Hello Woodstock Elementary School Community,

It is an honor to introduce myself as Woodstock Elementary School's interim principal and join this extraordinary school community. I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to serve and elated that this is how I get to spend my days. I can assure you that I share in your commitment to caring for your children.

I come to Woodstock with varied experiences. I have served as an elementary teacher, a middle school language arts teacher, a reading teacher, and an instructional coach. My leadership positions have been at the District Office, Vernon K8, and Sellwood MS. In addition to my different roles in education, I am first and foremost a mom. My husband and I have lived in N/NE Portland for 27 years, and both our kids graduated from Roosevelt High School. Our oldest, Henry, studied music at Portland State. He is working on an album as I write this, so let me know if you want to hear his first single! Our daughter, Clara, will be a senior at Oregon State, studying to be an elementary teacher and earning her ESOL endorsement. Being a parent is my favorite; I love every minute of watching my kids find their joy and purpose.

The 2025-26 school year will mark my 19th year in education. I love working in a school, and although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my position as school leader where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. The elementary principalship will provide me the opportunity to work closely with teachers, while also remaining connected to our students as we watch them learn and grow in the classroom. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that all of us, working together, will ensure they meet their goals.

My vision is centered on collaboration, a student-centered approach and trust that every community can shape a path to excellence. I look forward to listening and learning from all of you about what your vision for Woodstock is. Below are a few days/times I will be available at the school this summer if you want to meet me before school starts. I look forward to meeting our newest community members at the Kindergarten Ice Cream Social at noon on August 23rd. And of course, there will be more opportunities for us to connect as the school year unfolds.

To our students, I hope that you are having a summer filled with curiosity. That you’ve been reading, playing, getting dirty (if you like that), and just being a kid! I cannot wait to meet you and hear your voices filling the hallways again.

In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I learn best by knowing what is working, and I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input. I am excited to embark on this educational journey with all of you, and I am confident that together, we will create an inspiring and enriching environment for our students to flourish.

Enjoy your summer, and I will see you soon.

With Woodstock Pride,

Heidi Stoetzel Earle, Interim Principal
Woodstock Elementary
